Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their banking needs.

  • Answer customer inquiries regarding account balances, bank services, and policies.

  • Resolve customer complaints or refer them to the appropriate department for further assistance.

Transaction Processing

  • Process deposits, withdrawals, and payments accurately and efficiently.

  • Handle cheque transactions, including deposits and cashing.

  • Process loan payments and credit card payments.

  • Issue cashier’s cheques, money orders, and bank drafts.

Cash Handling and Management

  • Count and manage cash in the drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.

  • Ensure the cash drawer balances at the end of the day, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.

  • Prepare and package cash for transfer to the vault or other branches.

Account Maintenance

  • Assist customers in opening and closing accounts.

  • Update customer information and account details as needed.

  • Provide information on available banking products and services to potential customers.

Compliance and Security

  • Follow bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and laws.

  • Verify the identity of customers to prevent fraud and maintain security.

  • Report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.

Technical Proficiency

  • Use banking software and systems to complete transactions and access customer information.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with banking equipment.

Sales and Referrals

  • Promote bank products and services to customers based on their needs.

  • Refer customers to other bank staff or departments for specialised services, such as loan officers or financial advisors.

Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and customer interactions.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on cash transactions and customer activity.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with other bank staff to ensure smooth operation of the branch.

  • Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on bank products, services, and policies.

General Administrative Duties

  • Assist with general administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, answering phones, and managing office supplies.
