Cashier

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly as they approach the checkout counter, ensuring a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

  • Assist customers with their purchases, addressing any questions about products or store policies.

  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints or refer them to the appropriate department for further assistance.

Transaction Processing

  • Accurately process sales transactions, including cash, credit/debit card payments, and gift card redemptions.

  • Scan items, apply discounts, and ensure correct pricing, providing receipts and packaging purchases.

Cash Handling

  • Count and manage the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring accuracy.

  • Balance the cash drawer daily, investigating and resolving any discrepancies, and preparing cash for deposits.

Sales Support

  • Promote ongoing sales, promotions, and loyalty programmes to enhance customer engagement.

  • Maintain a clean and organised checkout area, fully stocked with necessary supplies.

Product Knowledge

  • Stay informed about current store merchandise, promotions, and upcoming sales events.

  • Advise customers on product features and benefits, aiding them in making informed purchasing decisions.

Compliance and Security

  • Adhere to store policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and laws.

  • Verify customer identification for specific transactions as required, reporting any suspicious activities to management.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with store staff to ensure smooth store operations.

  • Assist with restocking shelves, setting up displays, and other tasks as needed.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.

  • Collect customer feedback and share insights with management to help improve store operations and customer satisfaction.
